The monastery is located in the vicinity of the village of Grlište, 14 km away from Zaječar, on a shore of Lake Grliško. The monastery is dedicated to the apostles St. Peter and Paul. It came into existence in the later period of the Middle Ages. The inscription above the entrance to the monastery says that the monastery was enlarged and reconstructed in 1804 by priest Radosav Živković, one of the first insurgents in this region. This monastery, just like many other monasteries in Serbia of that time, was the centre of uprising in Crna Reka. The iconostasis is the work of an unknown painter in the late 19th century.
